A note from the authors, Peg and Maggie Lynn:

The character of Charlie the Mouse was inspired by the lineage of field mice who have snuck into our home throughout the years. We live on what once was a farm so the numbers have been plentiful than we would have liked. We, however, chose to save their lives and used plastic traps like the one shown below. With some peanut butter and a cracker as bait the trap door closes the mice in and they stay safe inside until we find them the next morning. They tend to eat everything in the trap box and work up a sweat so never delay in relocating them. The wee critters will return to your home very shortly thereafter if you don’t take them miles away to a new field or barn. They have amazing tracking skills.
It seemed natural to us to name the star of our story Charlie. We named every mouse visitor we found in the boxes. Each one came with his or her own personalities but with one common denominator: love of food. Sweets were usually their favorites. Thus, the character of Charlie was conceived and brought to life with this story. We hope you have enjoyed it and will be on the lookout for future tales of Charlie the Mouse and his adventures.

Vaktare of All Realms Series

– A sneak preview of Vaktare of All Realms –

“I feel the sorrow of a dying race; drowning in the sea of ignorance and crowded out by the fear of the many. Our time is either beginning again or degenerating into nothingness, this much I know. But to decide our legacy, either story or song, depends upon you young one.

I be not afraid, nor should you, of what is to come. Time passes, creatures pass back to bone and earth and the young grow old. The cycle of the sun passes on without our consent regardless of our actions. Time is a silly invention, a charade of control for those foolish enough to cherish it and death is an immovable inevitability. Unavoidable. The only things we can do to influence this dimension is to safeguard the innocence and survival of the young. For without them, we shall diminish. Not as individuals, no, but as a whole.

We walk the soil or sky, or not at all, but the great star continues to rise without pause. The question is child, will we rise or set with the passing sun? I do not pass our actions off to fate. Our actions are ours to decide. Evil flourishes under the pretense of fate – inaction. To stand passive is to stand aside, let live the bad, watch it walk off with a wink and a promise of destruction. But the destruction will not be its own, it will be ours. If not in body, in soul.”

I felt the weight of Xara’s eye as she came to the end of her speech. She sighed heavily and her scales rattled together as she shivered in the night wind. Chalorn lay asleep sheltered in her shadow, snoring lazy smoke spirals as the rest of the clan sat alert, watching warily around us.

But my eyes couldn’t meet hers. They rested solely on the lights of the sleeping city in the distance, the cities even further to the south and north. But while my eyes were only narrow enough to view the horizon, my mind was able to view with full horror the rest of the world and the danger it was in. And there was only one person in the world who would be able to save it.

And she was sitting on her ass in the middle of nowhere surrounded by dragons. Doing nothing.

“So young one,” Xara asked amusedly. “What will you do?”

A Blue Jay and a Butterfly | A Testimony

22089631_1513815748662430_4506487774410116338_nWhen all seems lost, look to God. All I can offer is my own testimony.
Today when I woke up and heard the news about Vegas, I was overwhelmed with sadness. Since yesterday, I had had an overwhelming feeling something was going to happen. But feeling it and seeing it are two entirely different things. Between issues that have come to a head in my life and the news today, I lost it.
I headed outside and just cried, asking God where He was and what I should do. And the good Lord knows getting me to cry is like getting blood out of a stone. But as I cried and talked to Him, something made me look up. And what I saw only made me cry harder, but this time not out of sadness, but of disbelief and joy.
A beautiful butterfly landed at my feet and stayed with me. It had no reason to do so, wings slowly opening and closing as he stayed with me for several minutes. And I knew it was a sign.
When it flew away, I just marveled at what had happened. But He wasn’t done with me. As I sat stunned, a blue jay flew down to the nearest branch of the nearby tree and screamed at me.
Whenever I need a sign from God , I ask for one to be sent to me. On previous occasions upon asking for one, a bluebird immediately took up nesting in our mailbox and another time came to windows at our home, flying up against the window closest to me and tapping on the glass. It came three days in a row, following me to whatever room I was in. But this summer none of them had come to me, until now.
The blue jay screamed at me, seemingly to have just flown in from nowhere, called to me, and then took off, disappearing as fast as he had arrived.
God heard my cries and answered my pleas. He stated effectively and quite clearly that He was right there with me the whole time; that even when we think He has forsaken us, that He has always been there with you. And I want whoever is reading this today to know that no matter what, He is here and His angels are fighting for us. This world has not been forsaken to the evil and darkness. The battle is not yet over. We as His children are never alone, and we are loved more than we know.
God is with you all today ♥️ Love and hugs to you all 🌈🕊
